WILDLIFE & BIODIVERSITY
The value of wild species is immeasurable—we have a sacred responsibility to help them thrive.
Though notable legal achievements and conservation efforts have helped stave off disaster in some cases, we remain in a period of extreme mortality and ongoing danger to wild species around the globe.
Where animal rights law has traditionally centered itself on the interests of individual nonhumans, Earth law addresses holistic ecosystem health, including the wellbeing of wildlife and interdependent systems of biodiversity.
Among many achievements related to wildlife, ELC provided input to a national law of Panama that recognizes the inherent rights of sea turtles and their habitats.
